What got me into fostering?

Getting into fostering didn’t take much thought or preparation for me. My best friend at the time learned about fostering when a friend of a friend was looking for help after finding an abandoned kitten outside. She started fostering kittens through a shelter and convinced me to give it a shot. This was when I was living in ohio going to the University of Cincinnati. Signed up to receive emails about available cats. I saw Krang and Rang but doubted myself. Not nervous that I’d keep them, simply scared to try something so new. No one else got them for a couple of days, so I decided to step up. I picked them up on September 19th, 2022. I am so, so glad I did.

Their given shelter names were Krang and Rang, but I just called them Baby and Momma. Rang was 4 week sold, and Momma was very nervous at first and on oral medication, which I felt so bad giving her. She warmed up quickly. I dropped them off on December 1st. I cried so much. I didn’t feel the desire to keep them, but that doesn’t make it easy to let go.

Fostering has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and instantly became a huge part of my life. I have learned SO much and met some amazing people along the way.

Yes, I get sad, yes, I love them all, I have the discipline to not keep them because I know this is better. At this point, it may be an addiction.

I take on the sadness and inconvenience to help them live happy, healthy lives. It hurts my heart to let them go. It is a ton of cleaning and responsibility.

The love I have for them makes it all worth it to see them happy ♡
